One Month. Scary. Here we are, 59 months into the planning and it is going well. Feels like we're about half way there, except that we've got one to go....
Does anybody have anything they would like to donate to the cause? Blankets, crampons, cupasoups, or a pacemaker for example.
We've thankfully managed to avoid having to go and see a gruff man at the Mauritanian embassy in Paris to apply for our visa. We can now do it en route in Morrocco - phew. I don't think a romantic weekend at the Paris Ritz is really in the budget at this late stage.
The next four and a half weeks are about crowds, queuing and spending, and it's got nothing to do with Christmas. It is all about putting our case to the sponsors (begging, by another name). The earnest smile and the phrase 'self funded' are going to be doing considerably more mileage than any landrover for the foreseeable future. If they have no effect then the tears and knees are our only back-up. Again, if any-one out there likes what we are doing, and would like to lend a hand, that hand is most useful in your pocket, pulling out the cheque-book or better still, on the mouse, donating through our Charities aid foundation Afritrex link. If you know us and don't despise us, lend a hand with whatever you can afford. We NEED your help.
